Award Recipients

Unity’s mission is to help create positive social impact, so the highlight of its 40th birthday year in 2024 was achieving a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development. It was a proud moment as it recognised Unity’s responsible business practices as well as its commitment to supporting organisations that drive social, economic and environmental change.

At Unity, every loan proposal is aligned against one or more of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). That means customers know their deposits will only be used to make a positive difference in local communities across the UK.

In 2025 Unity achieved further milestones:
• An Investment Grade credit rating from Fitch Ratings.
• Investing £15m in Local Climate Bonds to help councils deliver Net Zero objectives – the first UK bank to do so.
• Independently verified as meeting the Global Impact Investing Network’s ‘Operating Principles for Impact Management’.
• Distributing a record £140,500 to good causes through fundraising
and grants.
