As a two-time winner of the International Trade Award, Cocogreen is celebrating a journey of consistent global expansion, reshaping the landscape of crop cultivation across the world.

Cocogreen utilises coconut husks, traditionally discarded as waste material, and transforms them into a high-performance substrate. The world’s leading hi-tech food growers plant their crops into it as a source of water and nutrients.

Co-founders Dr Sudesh Fernando and Thomas Ogden started Cocogreen in 2010, with a commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. Cocogreen’s mission is to unlock the potential of renewable resources, empowering food growers to forge a more sustainable future for people and planet.

This ESG impact is exemplified in its patented Moisture Control Technology (MCT), an innovation led by Dr Fernando that tackles water management challenges in agriculture. MCT promotes consistent moisture levels throughout the substrate, fostering optimal root development, minimising water usage and elevating crop yield and quality. Water and fertiliser savings of over 30% are possible with MCT – verified by independent data and backed up by leading growers. As agriculture wrestles with a peat-free future where major challenges include conserving carbon, reducing water usage and guaranteeing high volumes of crop yield, Cocogreen significantly outperforms traditional growing mediums or competitor substrates.

The business was awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2018, after making impact in markets like the Far East, Europe, Australia and Africa. Now, the business is rapidly accelerating sales and operations to every continent in the world. The business has expanded further into LATAM territories, grown its footprint in Europe, and is now building on early success in its North America export journey. Through strategic partnerships and a dedication to quality and strong values, Cocogreen is solidifying its position as a global leader in sustainable agriculture.
