- 2019 Innovation
Chipside MiPermit won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Innovation in 2019. The award recognised the innovative www.mipermit.com digital permit platform at the heart of 170 Local Authority net zero smart parking and social mobility ambitions.
“The Queen’s Award is hugely respected across the world,” says Paul Moorby OBE, CEO of Chipside. “We are delighted that the initiative will continue with the King’s Awards for 2023.
“Winning the award has brought us international recognition and helped us to secure partners across the globe. Closer to home, it is a source of pride to look out from our desks and see the Queen’s Award flag flying. It reminds us daily of the trust that our customers and partners place in us to be very best we can be.
“We have seen a record year for our systems, developed and supported from our HQ in rural Wiltshire – the public trusted us to manage 240 billion minutes of parking sessions in 2022. We have grown our staff back to 68, bringing much needed high tech jobs to our rural location, and we have expanded our office in Wales again in 2023. Our teams are working hard to support the local economy and support a high tech cluster in Wales.”
Celebrating its 20th year during 2023, the team at Chipside MiPermit has a clear innovation roadmap to towards the next generation of products and services. One of those projects brings together InnovateUK, the University of Bath and Chipside to look at how Artificial Intelligence can improve outcomes for drivers as towns and cities implement their net zero policies. The UK is a world leader in government open data. Richy Clements, Director of Innovation Lab, is clear about the role Chipside will play over the next few years: “The public rightly demands access to their government services at the time of their choosing, on the platform they wish, with outcomes taking seconds, not weeks. We will continue to work with regulators and innovators and look forward to seeing the platform deployed in more international locations in the very near future.”
