King Charles III continues Queen Elizabeth’s legacy by giving His Majesty’s name to prestigious awards
The name change reflects His Majesty The King’s desire to continue recognising volunteers and promoting outstanding business
Two prestigious Awards established during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and conferred in Her Late Majesty’s name, have been renamed to reflect King Charles III’s Accession.
The newly renamed King’s Award for Enterprise celebrates outstanding achievement by UK businesses and is internationally recognised. The 2023 Awardees will be announced on Friday 21 April this year, marking Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday, and on 6 May from 2024, the anniversary of The King’s coronation.

The Queen’s Awards updated Sustainable Development category makes it easier for businesses to demonstrate commercially successful, sustainable development practices that put them at the forefront of industry.
The Sustainable Development Award was refocussed in July 2019, with UK businesses being urged to join more than 7,000 winners of the prestigious Queen’s Award and apply for the Sustainable Development category. In a video message, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has encouraged more businesses to be sustainable and showcase their green credentials. Businesses of today are not only satisfying customers globally but doing so with a firm eye on environmental impact by finding new routes to sustainable practices.
And creating better futures for employees through the promotion of social mobility opportunities and sustainable business is at the heart of so many of the companies who have won awards this year; innovative thinking and technology have helped to make this a reality and pushing the boundaries has led to smarter business practice.
